Many questions from music producers are whether they just have to take an Apple Mac computer or a Windows PC. I still use it more when tracking live bands, as the session organization and editing tools are more powerful.The heart of most home studios is the computer, the sacred place where we keep all our music programs, samples, and plug-ins. Logic X is also great, and fantastic value, if you are looking for a more traditional workflow. It has the advantage of giving you superb modulation options, which transforms the DAW into more of an instrument. Bitwig is very similar to Live, but is much less mature. Also, if you have the dough, the Push controller makes the workflow fantastic. There is also a larger user community that contributes tutorials and "Max for Live" (M4L) instruments/effects for additional expansion. Live has a ton of great instruments and effects, especially if you get the "Suite" version. The paradigm of both is a little different to that of a traditional DAW, as you typically record into "Clips" that you can then later build into your arrangement, rather than just recording linearly. I'd recommend Ableton Live or Bitwig if you are primarily using it for songwriting and especially for electronic music. Proper feedback is not "Dope track bro, k do me next."
